The course MES 501 Introduction to Energy Technology Systems aims:
• To introduce students to energy principles regarding thermodynamics, combustion, emissions, heat transfer and fluid mechanics, as well as the application of principles for the analysis of energy systems.
• To comprehend the types and operation of energy technology systems in industrial and domestic applications, and select and assess the most appropriate technology for specific energy requirements.
• To obtain the ability to analyse factors influencing performance of energy technology systems, via calculation of thermodynamic data, construction of graphs of thermodynamic cycles and energy balance.
• To identify and select methodologies for assessment and design of energy technology systems and basic components configuration.
