The aim of this course is summarised as follows:
• To comprehend the types and operation of power generation technologies based on oil, gas, coal and nuclear fuel and assess and distinguish the different applications of each technology.
• To obtain the ability to analyse factors influencing performance of thermal power plants, via calculation of thermodynamic data, construction of graphs of thermodynamic cycles and energy balance of various types of gas turbines, steam turbines and combined cycle plants.
• To identify methodologies for test, assessment and design of thermal power plants and basic components configuration.
• To provide skills to analyse, design and manage the various stages of development of novel thermal power plants, as well as carry out research on new types plants
